These Domestic Aircraft Will Be Mass Produce after Complete Flight Hours

Pioneer aircraft made by domestic, N219 developed by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) with the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Lapan) will be mass-produced for transportation needs in Indonesia. However, according to the Director General of Strengthening Research and Development of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Dimyati, the aircraft needs to complete flight hours to get certification.

"Still needing to add flight hours, hopefully this year will be completed," Said Dimyati in Jakarta on Wednesday (07-17/2019). At present, said Dimyati, PT DI continues to develop aircraft technology made in Indonesian so that it can be used on land and in water with amphibian types. "Currently that aircraft can only be used in a field with a short distance, but in the future it can also be in the water," he said.

If successful, the aircraft will be used as supporting tourism to remote areas while transporting goods and services. He explained, the concept of the amphibious types pioneer aircraft was also motivated by talks with the 3rd Republic of Indonesia President, BJ Habibie, who wanted all remote areas to be reached.

The concept refers to the geographical state of Indonesia which has small islands with densely populated populations. If you rely on ship transportation, it will take a long time. Therefore, the concept emerged to make small aircraft that do not require extensive fields or airports as in general.

"Then, amphibious model aircraft is also needed to reach small islands that have many mountains so that they can only be traversed by waterways," he said. Dimyati hopes that if N219 pioneer aircraft can be commercialized, inter-island communication in Indonesia can be more smoothly so as to encourage an increase in the national economy.
