The state-owned company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) will begin shipping nine Bell-412EPI helicopters to the Indonesian Army next year. The total value of the procurement of these assault helicopters reached US $ 183 million or equivalent to Rp 2.5 trillion. Bell-412EPI is an American aviation production company, Bell Textron Inc. While PTDI will assemble weapons namely gattling gun from Dillon Aerospace and bullets from PT Pindad (Persero).
"Hopefully in the middle of next year it can be sent," he said PTDI VP Sales Ibnu Bintarto at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/27).
Ibnu said that at present two 412EPI units had been sent by Bell and placed in PTDI's operational office in Bandung, West Java. A total of five 412EPI units will be delivered by 2020. Meanwhile, two other units are still in the manufacturing process in the US. The assembly process is also time consuming because the government only provided initial funding in December 2019.
"We are heavy here, we have to buy things first, while funds from the government have not yet come in," said Ibnu.
Until now, PTDI has sent 63 Bell Series helicopters to its customers in Indonesia. Not only that, the state-owned company also produced several Bell helicopter components.
"Including the tail boom, door assembly and others for the Bell-412EPI and Huey II helicopters," said VD Business Development and Marketing PTDI Gatot Mulia Pribadi.
