TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto on Thursday officially handed over the CN 235-220 MPA aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) to the Republic of Senegal Air Force at the PTDI hangar in Bandung. This handover marked the third purchase by Senegal.
“PTDI is Indonesia’s pride and the hopes of the nation. We are in need of aerospace technology in the industry,” said Prabowo Subianto in a written statement.
Senegal Chief of Air Force Papa Souleymane SARR said that his country has used PTDI aircrafts for 10-years for services in Senegal. They plan on utilizing the latest CN 235-220 as a patrol plane, which differs from the other two.
“We hope we will be as satisfied as [we did at] the previous two planes,” said Souleymane.
He explained that the partnership between Senegal and Indonesia have been well tied thanks to similar cultures shared by both countries. Souleymane said his country will continue to look for opportunities to exchange experiences and cooperation with Indonesia in the future.
