PTDI signs MoU with HAVELSAN to collaborate on N219 Aircraft Simulator development

Press Release

Istanbul, Turkey, 21 September 2021 – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) (PTDI) and Hava Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (HAVELSAN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in order to identify and develop N219 Aircraft Simulator. Under the MoU, PTDI and HAVELSAN will work closely together on Avionic & System Modeling, Flight & Engine Modeling, and Computer System & Interface.

The MoU was signed today at Teknofest 2021 by President Director of PTDI, Elfien Goentoro and CEO of HAVELSAN Mehmet Aktif Nacar, in the presence of Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal.

N219 is a passenger aircraft with a capacity of 19 passengers with two turboprop engines which refers to CASR Part 23 regulations. The idea and design of the aircraft developed by PTDI with program development carried out by PTDI and National Institute of Aeronautics & Space (LAPAN). N219 has successfully obtained Type Certificate on December 22, 2020, issued by Directorate General of Aviation (DGCA) Ministry of Transportation Republic of Indonesia.

N219 has the ability to take off and landing on short unprepared runways. It is hoped that N219 will soon be able to optimize its function to fulfil the needs of pioneering and connectivity flights in remote areas, also accelerate economic growth more evenly. In operation, this N219 can be used for various needs, such as passenger transportation, freight movement, and air ambulance services.

N219 has a maximum speed of 190 knots, and the lowest speed reaches 65 knots – well controlled even at a fairly low speed, that is very important for the aircraft to flight in mountainous terrain with low speed maneuverability. N219 is equipped with two PT6A-42 turboprop engines with four Hartzell propeller blades, integrated with Garmin 1000 Next Generation communications navigation system.

In the Teknofest 2021, PTDI is again showcasing its flagship products and services to expand markets and increase sales, especially for the CN235-220 and N219 aircraft.
