PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) conducted a ferry flight of 1 (one) NC212i aircraft unit for the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation (DRRAA) Thailand from PTDI's Delivery Center Hangar, Bandung, to Nakhon Sawan Air Base, Muang, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, which is planned to arrive on May 31, 2023.
The aircraft with tail number AX-2131 was flown by PTDI Test Pilot, Captain Esther Gayatri Saleh as Pilot In Command Ferry and Captain M. Iqbal Sayid as Copilot. The aircraft took off from Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung, to Sultan Syarif Qasim Airport, Pekanbaru, Riau, then flew back to Hat Yai International Airport, Thailand, south near the Malaysian border and continued to Nakhon Sawan Air Base, Muang, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, as the final destination, which will then be carried out Flight Acceptance in Thailand on June 01, 2023.
"Alhamdulillah we can gather at a happy moment, not only for PTDI, but also for Indonesia. This is our first delivery in 2023, exports to Thailand, proving that we can again penetrate the export market. This is also clear evidence that PTDI's commercial aircraft production is not only N219, but also CN235-220 and NC212i aircraft that can be used to meet commercial needs, as will be applied to this NC212i aircraft which will later be used as a Rain Making aircraft. We have also just obtained another export contract for NC212i aircraft totaling 6 units from DND Philippines, "said Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI.
The signing of the procurement contract for 1 (one) unit of NC212i aircraft was carried out on November 26, 2020 between PTDI and A.I.C.E. Enterprises (Thai) Co., Ltd. for end user DRRAA Thailand. The NC212i aircraft with the Troop Transport configuration delivered today will then be converted by DRRAA Thailand into a Rain Making configuration for weather modification.
"It is an honor for us, trusted as a manufacturer of aircraft needs for DRRAA Thailand, where this is the 10th NC212 series aircraft delivered by PTDI for DRRAA Thailand. This indicates that the NC212i aircraft produced by PTDI is considered compatible and ideal for Thailand's geographical conditions, which of course also suits their operating needs. I believe that our products are good, hopefully in the future PTDI can fulfill the needs of other aircraft for them. Once again I thank DRRAA Thailand for the trust given, hopefully this ferry flight will run smoothly and safely to its destination, "said Esther Gayatri, PTDI Test Pilot.
The NC212i aircraft is a light transport aircraft with a modern avionics system full glass cockpit and autopilot, which is equipped with winglets, ramp doors and has a spacious cabin size compared to its class aircraft. Since 2014, PTDI is the only aircraft manufacturing industry in the world that produces NC212i aircraft and until now there have been 122 units of NC212 series aircraft that have been produced and delivered by PTDI to various customers, both domestic and foreign, out of a total of 606 units of NC212 series aircraft population in the world.
In the global market, Thailand is the second most customers who buy PTDI's production aircraft because they are considered suitable for their terrain and operational needs. Thailand's geographical location close to Indonesia also certainly facilitates after sales support activities. In order to maintain aircraft readiness and maintain customer satisfaction, PTDI will also develop its MRO business line globally.
