Starts in 2011, PTDI is actively involved in the development of a multi role combat aircraft with the Government of Republic of Korea. The fighter aircraft is designed to have characteristic of 4.5 Generation fighter aircraft. The fighter is to be operated by both countries in 2020.

The KF-X/IF-X fighter program is 80% funded by the Republic of Korea and 20% funded by the Republic of Indonesia. Under the supervision of MoD, the program aims to build Indonesian capabilities to enable to defend its air territory, to establish and enhance a sustainable Indonesian Defense industry, and deliver fighters to the Indonesian Air Forces.
