Bandung (08/13) - DI Edutainment, an educational tourism program managed by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), hosted an outdoor classroom activity for students from one of the public elementary and junior high schools in Bandung City. This activity is part of the collaboration between PTDI and the Bandung City Government, involving the Archives & Library Service, Education Service, Transportation Service, and Tourism & Culture Service. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, and the Chairperson of the Bandung City Council, Asep Mulyadi.
On this occasion, Mayor M. Farhan and the Chairperson of the Bandung City Council not only attended as guests of honor but also actively participated in the series of DI Edutainment - Factory Tour activities of PT Dirgantara Indonesia. Both of them participated in a tour through the production area and several aircraft hangars, directly interacting with the students participating in the program, as well as providing encouragement and inspirational messages for the young generation of Bandung and West Java to dare to dream big and break into high-tech industries such as aerospace.
"We from the Bandung City DPRD appreciate what PTDI has done, especially in creating the DI Edutainment which aims to share knowledge and provide learning access like this, and we also appreciate the Bandung City Government for supporting this program, as not every city, regency, or even country has an aircraft factory like this. We are also very grateful that Bandung has very great potential and this needs to be widely publicized, especially to students, so they understand the history of Bandung and the development of its aerospace industry," said Asep Mulyadi.
DI Edutainment: A Contextual Learning Tool, Not Just Tourism
The DI Edutainment program is a flagship initiative of PTDI designed to provide understanding about the aerospace world to the general public, especially students. Through the Factory Tour activities, participants can directly observe the aircraft production process and get to know the national aerospace industry more closely.
This activity can provide concrete educational values for students and become part of contextual learning outside the classroom. In addition to enriching students' knowledge in the field of aerospace technology, this program also supports the strengthening of cultural and historical literacy of the aviation industry in Indonesia.
The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, stated that this activity can complement educational learning methods, in collaboration with the Education Office and the Tourism & Culture Office, "Alhamdulillah we, together with PTDI, have started the kickoff of the DI Edutainment program, this is not a new program for PTDI, but this time we collaborate with the Bandung City Government, and also present are representatives from the Tourism & Culture Office, which means that DI Edutainment is not just a tourist destination, but a complementing method of outside classroom learning that is beneficial for students," said M. Farhan.
Through DI Edutainment, PTDI presents a learning medium that connects knowledge with real experiences in the aerospace world. Not just a tourist destination, DI Edutainment has become one of the important elements that strengthens Bandung's position as an Aerospace City. Since PTDI was established in 1976, Bandung has become a center for aerospace technology innovation and a symbol of the national industry that was born, grew, and developed in the land of Pasundan – a proud heritage that PTDI continues to uphold for future generations.
PTDI's CSR Program in the Field of Education, Free for High School/Vocational School Students
As part of the Social & Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program, since 2023, PTDI has specifically provided the DI Edutainment program free of charge for high school and vocational school students. This initiative is expected to open up broader educational access while fostering interest among the younger generation in the aerospace field.
PTDI believes that introducing strategic industries such as aerospace should be done from an early age, and through DI Edutainment, students not only gain new experiences but also inspiration to look forward to the future as part of the nation's progress. 'With an educational and inspiring approach, PTDI will continue to develop DI Edutainment as a sustainable program that not only introduces the aerospace industry but also encourages the emergence of future engineering candidates. It is hoped that this activity can complement thematic learning methods and motivate students to aspire to become the next generation in the field of aerospace technology,' said Gita Amperiawan, the President Director of PTDI.
Collaborative Commitment for Meaningful Education
This activity is designed together with various agencies in the city of Bandung as a form of joint commitment to present educational tourism destinations that are relevant, beneficial, and academically accountable. The Edutainment is expected to be an indicator of the success of true outdoor learning for students.
As stated by the Head of the Archives & Library Office, Dewi Kaniasari, 'The essence is to provide our children with education and ask them to create literacy about aerospace. So this is truly an educational study tour activity that, God willing, provides benefits for the children, to inspire them. PTDI also anticipates that in the future, there will be many more schools that will tour PTDI.'
