PTDI Signs Contract for 4 N219 Aircraft to Transport Cargo in Pioneer Regions
Bandung, globalnetwork.id – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) signed a sales and purchase contract for four N219 aircraft with PT Mitra Aviasi Perkasa (PT MAP). The contract signing was conducted by PTDI's Director of Commerce, Technology & Development, Moh. Arif Faisal, and PT MAP CEO, Septo Adjie Sudiro. The signing was witnessed by Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning (PPN RI/Bappenas), Sokhib Al Rokhman, Director of the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations (DKPPU) of the Ministry of Transportation, Sokhib Al Rokhman, and PTDI's Deputy President Commissioner, Bonar H. Hutagaol, and PTDI's President Director, Gita Amperiawan, at the PTDI Aircraft Services (ACS) Hangar in Bandung.
The presence of Bappenas and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation at the signing ceremony affirmed the government's full support for promoting the use of the N219 aircraft as a primary mode of transportation in Indonesia's pioneering regions.
The scope of the contract includes the procurement of four N219 cargo aircraft and their equipment, including training and technical publications. The completion and delivery will be carried out in stages after the contract becomes effective.
This is the first N219 aircraft contract for the domestic commercial market, with PT MAP acting as both buyer and operator.
The signing of this contract represents a strategic step in encouraging the commercialization of the N219, a domestically produced aircraft with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 44.69%. This initiative is expected to strengthen air transportation services, particularly in Indonesia's underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3TP) regions.
Going forward, the development of the N219 business ecosystem and operational implementation will require policy support and synergy across ministries/agencies, including Bappenas and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, to ensure the program's sustainability in supporting the national development agenda.
"This aircraft is designed for pioneering flights, with the capability to operate on short runways of less than 1 km and unpaved runways. For hilly terrain, this aircraft has a very low stall speed, making it easy to maneuver and operate in difficult terrain. From an operational perspective, this aircraft is also designed with competitive operating costs, easy maintenance, and after-sales support from PTDI," said Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI.
The N219 aircraft is not only a source of national pride but also plays an enabler in opening air access and promoting economic equality in remote areas. Specifically designed to operate in areas with challenging geographical conditions, this aircraft is expected to streamline logistics distribution, improve community mobility, and stimulate regional economic activity.
"Today we are witnessing a historic signing, as PTDI has signed a contract to sell the N219 to a private company for private commercial aviation. This is not an ordinary contract signing, but rather a commitment to ensuring that we will not continue to rely on solutions not designed by ourselves. These solutions must be born domestically, not from abroad. And the N219 aircraft is a symbol of all this, not just a product but a statement of technological sovereignty developed by the nation's children to meet domestic needs with a strong local content (TKDN)," said Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Deputy Minister of Bappenas.
This contract signing further strengthens PTDI's optimism regarding the acceptance of the N219 aircraft in the domestic market and emphasizes its role in supporting the national development agenda.**
