IAe and BIJB Partner to Expand Aerospace Production Business in Kertajati, Majalengka
IAe Partners with BIJB to Support Aerospace Production Capacity Expansion at Kertajati Airport
DESKJABAR – Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) has partnered with BIJB to support the expansion of aerospace production capacity at Kertajati Airport, Majalengka. This business initiative includes the development of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), Aerostructure, and Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) clusters, while also strengthening synergy in the development of the national aerospace industrial area.
IAe and PT Bandarudara Internasional Jawa Barat (Perseroda/BIJB) Kertajati signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of the West Side Area of Kertajati Airport, Majalengka, as a foundation for cooperation in developing the aerospace industrial area.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by IAe's President Director, Gita Amperiawan, and BIJB's Acting Director, Ronald H. Sinaga, and witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Deputy Minister of Transportation, Suntana, and Majalengka Regent, Eman Suherman, at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 16, 2026.
Development of Kertajati Airport's West Side
This signing represents a strategic collaboration between both parties in supporting the Kertajati Airport area as a hub for aerospace industry activities. Coordinating Minister AHY stated that the signing of the MoU between IAe and BIJB is part of a joint commitment to develop Kertajati into one of the national aerospace industry hubs.
"The government is not only continuing to work on increasing flight activity at Kertajati Airport, but is also encouraging the emergence of an integrated aerospace industry ecosystem. All that remains is how we create the market," he said.
The scope of this Memorandum of Understanding covers cooperation in the phased development of the west side area of Kertajati Airport across short, medium, and long-term stages. In the initial phase, both parties will optimize the use of existing facilities, including the runway, to support flight test activities for IAe's products, which include Fixed Wing, Rotary Wing, and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) products, for both defense and commercial needs.
Boosting CN235 and N219 Production
This initiative is an effort to build an integrated aerospace ecosystem, in which IAe not only delivers products but also comprehensive services ranging from testing, certification, and maintenance, to after-sales support and life cycle support, in order to strengthen fleet readiness as one of IAe's key capabilities in supporting the sustainability of the aerospace ecosystem.
The Head of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), in remarks read out by IAe's President Director, Gita Amperiawan, stated, "We firmly believe that a robust national aerospace industry can be built here in Kertajati. There will be manufacturing, MRO, and aerostructure, and of course this will become a collaboration between industry, the central government, regional government, and global partners."
The development of the Kertajati Airport area is part of efforts to build an integrated aerospace industry ecosystem in Indonesia. This development is also a strategic step for IAe in supporting increased production capacity, in line with the assignment to procure 80 units of CN235 aircraft and 30 units of N219 aircraft. The presence of this area is expected to support the commercialization process of the N219 while also strengthening the readiness of IAe's production facilities and infrastructure to meet the needs of national aerospace industry development.
