PTDI Partners with Paguyuban Pasundan to Launch “DI Goes to School” and “DI Edutainment” Educational Programs

BANDUNG, PASJABAR.COM — As part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero), PTDI has partnered with the oldest Sundanese organization in West Java, Paguyuban Pasundan, to launch the educational programs DI Goes to School and DI Edutainment on Saturday (29/8/2026).

The General Chairman of Executive Board (PB) Paguyuban Pasundan, Prof. Dr. H.M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si., along with the President Director of PTDI, Gita Amperiawan, signed the cooperation agreement on the main stage during the peak event of PTDI's 50th anniversary.

This collaboration marks a significant momentum for PTDI and Paguyuban Pasundan to advance and elevate Indonesia's aerospace sector through education.

PTDI and Paguyuban Pasundan Introduce Aerospace Sector

The General Chairman of PB Paguyuban Pasundan, Prof. Dr. H.M. Didi Turmudzi, stated that the cooperation between PTDI and Paguyuban Pasundan in education aims to introduce the world of aerospace to students and university undergraduates.

“This cooperation can motivate students and university undergraduates to enter the workforce or pursue higher education in aerospace,” explained Didi Turmudzi.

Didi added that introducing aerospace science can build awareness, interest, and motivation among students and undergraduates to work in or continue their studies within the field.

“Aligning with PTDI's expectations, once introduced to aerospace science, these students and undergraduates will possess the awareness, motivation, and drive to pursue a career or advanced education in aerospace,” he added.

In addition to collaborating with PTDI, Paguyuban Pasundan also established a joint commitment with the West Java Regional Government, PTDI, and PT Santana Manggala Karya to boost the production and productivity of sorghum commodities in West Java.

PTDI Inaugurates Dirgantara Indonesia Training Center

During the 50th anniversary event series, PTDI also inaugurated the Dirgantara Indonesia Training Center within PTDI’s production area. The Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, Ph.D., officially opened the training center.

President Director of PTDI, Gita Amperiawan, stated that the modern aerospace training center serves as a strategic initiative for PTDI to produce highly qualified, specialized, and internationally certified aviation industry talents.

“In its development, PTDI has conducted intensive discussions with several universities, including Universitas Pasundan (Unpas)—which signed the cooperation agreement today—as well as Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Universitas Nurtanio (Unnur),” explained Gita.

PTDI has centralized this training center at the PTDI area in Bandung, offering 17 specialized training courses. To date, the program has produced 140 expert participants, with several graduates deployed directly to strengthen the industry line at Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI).

PTDI also demonstrated its commitment to labor absorption by providing 150 internship opportunities for the younger generation.

In the near future, PTDI plans to expand strategic collaborations with international partners to accelerate aviation technology transfer.

Minister of Manpower Promotes "Skill, Not School" Concept

Meanwhile, the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, Ph.D., conducted a working visit to PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) in Bandung while inaugurating the PTDI Training Center.

During his visit, Yassierli expressed pride in PTDI’s contributions to the country and to himself personally.

The Minister highlighted a major shift in the global workforce landscape. Recent data indicates that 63 percent of companies struggle to find workers with suitable skills.

Furthermore, future challenges are becoming increasingly clear, with predictions suggesting that 50 percent of job roles will shift over the next ten years due to technological disruption and artificial intelligence (AI).

In response to these conditions, Yassierli advocated for the concept of “Skill, not School.”

According to him, while formal education remains important, a proven track record of real skills is becoming increasingly crucial in the modern era.

“A diploma is important, but it is not enough. What matters most today is what you can do, what you have accomplished, and what is in your portfolio. This is why skills, certification, and recognition are vital,” emphasized the Minister.

Ministry of Manpower Prepares National Internship and Vocational Training Programs

To bridge the skills gap, the Ministry of Manpower is preparing two large-scale flagship programs.

The first program is the National Internship Program (Magang Nasional). The Ministry has allocated a budget of IDR 4,2 trillion to fund the program, while raising the participant quota from 100,000 to 150,000.

The Ministry aims for graduates of the internship program to hold high bargaining power, enabling them to receive job offers within six months of graduation.

The second program is the National Vocational Training (Pelatihan Vokasi Nasional) with a budget of IDR 1,8 trillion, targeting 300,000 high school and vocational school graduates (SMA/SMK).

Participants will undergo intensive training lasting one to two months to master practical skills demanded by the market, ranging from lathe operations to practical electronics.

Prof. Yassierli expressed high appreciation to PTDI and other partners, including Paguyuban Pasundan, for launching this initiative with an initial group of 150 personnel.

The Minister expressed hope that more centers of excellence will emerge across strategic locations in the future, acting as training grounds (candradimuka) for local human resources.
