Attracting Domestic Market Attention, PTDI's N219 Aircraft is Snatched by Private Commercial Airlines
Bandung City – Four N219 aircraft manufactured by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) are ready to be purchased by PT Mitra Aviasi Perkasa (PT MAP).
The sale and purchase of the four N219s was marked by the signing of a contract by PTDI's Director of Commerce, Technology, and Development, Moh. Arif Faisal, and PT MAP CEO, Septo Adjie Sudiro, on Wednesday (May 6, 2026).
The contract, signed at PTDI's Aircraft Services (ACS) hangar in Bandung, marks the first N219 aircraft sale for the domestic market.
The sale and purchase also raises optimism about strengthening air transportation services in Indonesia's underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
Furthermore, the contract signing was witnessed by government representatives, including Bappenas and the Ministry of Transportation, who are expected to support the development of the N219 business ecosystem.
This ecosystem development will be a strategic effort to support the national development agenda. PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan provided an overview of the N219 aircraft's specifications, making it suitable for operation in the 3T (Underdeveloped and Remote Areas) regions.
"This aircraft is designed for pioneering flights, with the capability to operate on short runways of less than one kilometer and unpaved runways," Gita explained.
With a very low stall speed, Gita continued, the N219 easily maneuvers in difficult terrain, making it suitable for operation in hilly areas.
Another advantage of this Indonesian-made aircraft is its relatively competitive operating costs.
"Its maintenance is easy, and PTDI provides after-sales service support," Gita said.
With all the advantages Gita explained, the N219 aircraft is capable of maximizing its role in economic equality in the 3T (Underdeveloped and Remote Areas) regions.
Its adaptability to all terrain makes this aircraft capable of distributing logistics and facilitating community mobility.
Meanwhile, according to Alphyanto Ruddyard, Deputy Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), the contract between PTDI and PT MAP serves as motivation to ensure solutions are born within the country itself.
"Solutions must come from within the country, not from abroad. And the N219 aircraft is a symbol of all that," he emphasized.
Alphyanto also called the N219 aircraft a tangible demonstration of the sovereignty of domestically produced technology.***(BS)
