PTDI and YPDM Pasundan Forge Partnership, Encouraging Students to Get to Know the World of Aerospace

BANDUNG, WWW.PASJABAR.COM — The aerospace world does not only need aircraft engineers. This industry also opens up opportunities for talent in electronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, and management.

These opportunities are now being introduced more closely to students through a partnership between PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and the Pasundan Basic and Secondary Education Foundation (YPDM Pasundan).

PTDI Corporate Secretary Rommy Indah Jayanti signed the cooperation document together with YPDM Pasundan Chairman Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Mulyana, M.Si. The signing was also witnessed by PTDI President Director Air Marshal (Ret.) Gita Amperiawan and Chairman of the Paguyuban Pasundan Central Board Prof. Dr. H.M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si.

A number of YPDM Pasundan officials, as well as the chairpersons and secretaries of K3SP at the kindergarten, elementary, junior high, MTs, senior high, and vocational high school levels of Pasundan, were also present at the event.

PTDI Wants Students to Do More Than Just Learn Theory

Gita Amperiawan said the partnership opens up space for PTDI to be directly present within the Pasundan educational environment, particularly at the senior high and vocational high school levels, up to higher education.

According to him, PTDI wants to introduce aerospace technology while also cultivating students' interest in the aviation industry.

"Today's cooperation between PTDI and Paguyuban Pasundan is through the PTDI Goes to School program. We want to enter senior high and vocational high school institutions, up to universities, to introduce aerospace technology," said Gita.

Gita emphasized that the program does not stop at introducing theory in the classroom. PTDI also wants to show directly how the aerospace industry actually works.

"The goal is not only to introduce the technology, but also to cultivate the interest of senior high and vocational high school students so they become interested in entering the aerospace world," he said.

For that reason, PTDI will combine learning with an introduction to industrial practice.

"The program we're offering isn't just classroom theory. We will also bring them to get to know the industry from a practical standpoint," said Gita.

The Aerospace Industry Opens Up Many Career Options

Gita explained that the aerospace field covers a very broad scope. Because of this, students do not need to limit their understanding to thinking that the aviation industry only needs graduates from certain engineering fields.

According to him, the industry's needs can span various disciplines.

"Aerospace has broad aspects. On the technical side, it can involve electronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, and many other fields," he said.

Besides technical fields, PTDI also needs human resources from non-technical fields.

"There are also many non-technical fields, such as management and many other things that can be linked to the needs of Indonesia's industry," said Gita.

Through this program, PTDI wants to broaden students' horizons early on regarding the various educational and career paths related to the aerospace industry.

Didi Turmudzi: PTDI Is a Point of Pride for West Java

Chairman of the Paguyuban Pasundan Central Board Prof. Dr. H.M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si. welcomed the partnership as an important step in introducing the world of aerospace to the younger generation of Pasundan.

Didi said PTDI's presence in Bandung is a source of pride for the people of West Java and Indonesia.

"PTDI is located in Bandung, in West Java. This is certainly a source of pride for the Sundanese people, the people of West Java, and the people of Indonesia," said Didi.

He believes the presence of the aviation industry in West Java provides a great opportunity for the education sector to introduce aerospace to the younger generation.

"The aviation industry only exists in West Java. Therefore, this cooperation between Pasundan and Dirgantara is an honor and a form of recognition for us," he said.

Building a Love for Aerospace from School Age

Didi hopes this partnership can build the courage and interest of Pasundan students to get to know the world of aerospace.

He believes schools can serve as a starting point for building the knowledge and character of the younger generation regarding the development of strategic national industries.

"God willing, we want the children of Pasundan to come to love the world of aerospace, which until now they may not have known much about," said Didi.

According to him, PTDI's program can provide information while also opening up new opportunities for students in determining their future education and career paths.

"This becomes new information and a new opportunity. Insights like this are certainly excellent for building children's character," he said.

Didi also believes that introducing the world of aerospace from the senior high and vocational high school levels can build students' love and enthusiasm for the field.

"Indeed, starting from senior high school, this institution may well be where their love and enthusiasm for aerospace first begins to be built," he said.

He also expressed appreciation to PTDI for giving YPDM Pasundan and the Pasundan educational environment the opportunity to take part in this aerospace education program.

"We are very grateful because we have been given the opportunity to cooperate," said Didi.

This partnership between PTDI and YPDM Pasundan is hoped to be more than just an MoU signing agenda. The DI Goes to School and DI Edutainment programs can serve as a gateway for Pasundan students to directly witness the vastness of the aerospace industry, learn about the technology, understand industrial processes, and discover fields that match their interests and abilities.
