PTDI and Pasundan Collaborate to Introduce Aerospace Industry to Students
KORAN - PIKIRAN RAKYAT - The aerospace industry requires more than just aircraft engineers. The sector also offers opportunities for talent across electronics, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, chemistry, and management.
These opportunities are now being introduced directly to students through a partnership between PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and the Pasundan Primary and Secondary Education Foundation (YPDM Pasundan). Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding educational aerospace programs in the meeting hall of the General Chairman of Paguyuban Pasundan on Jalan Sumatera No. 41, Bandung. PTDI Corporate Secretary Rommy Indah Jayanti signed the agreement alongside Chairman of YPDM Pasundan Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Mulyana, M.Si. The signing was witnessed by PTDI President Director Air Vice Marshal (Ret.) Gita Amperiawan and General Chairman of Paguyuban Pasundan Prof. Dr. H.M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si.
Gita Amperiawan stated that this collaboration enables PTDI to engage directly within Pasundan’s educational ecosystem, particularly across high schools (SMA), vocational schools (SMK), and higher education institutions. According to him, PTDI aims to introduce aerospace technology while nurturing student interest in the aviation industry. Gita emphasized that the initiative will not be confined to classroom theory, as PTDI plans to integrate theoretical learning with direct exposure to industrial practice.
Gita further explained that the aerospace sector spans an expansive scope. Consequently, students need not limit their perspective to the assumption that aviation exclusively requires specific aeronautical engineering degrees. General Chairman of Paguyuban Pasundan Prof. Didi Turmudzi regarded the partnership as a vital step in introducing the aerospace world to Pasundan's younger generation. Didi noted that PTDI's presence in Bandung remains a source of pride for West Java and Indonesia as a whole. "PTDI is based right here in Bandung, West Java. Naturally, this is a point of pride for the Sundanese people, the people of West Java, and the entire Indonesian nation," Didi said. The presence of the aviation industry in West Java presents substantial opportunities for the educational sector to inspire the youth, and Didi expressed hope that this partnership will spark sustained student interest in exploring the aerospace domain.
