BIJB Kertajati to Partner with Ministry of Defense and PT DI, Regent of Majalengka: New Potential to Absorb 3,000 Workers
West Java Provincial Government prepares cooperation with the Ministry of Defense to develop BIJB Kertajati Majalengka. PT DI and its derivative businesses will enter, creating 3,000 jobs and boosting the people's economy around the airport.
The West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati area in Majalengka Regency has the potential to enter a new chapter of industrial and economic development.
The West Java Provincial Government is currently preparing a collaboration with the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) of the Republic of Indonesia to develop the area, including the plan for the entry of PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI).
Regent of Majalengka H. Eman Suherman revealed that the plan was discussed in a meeting regarding the development of the defense industry in the BIJB Kertajati area together with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi.
According to Eman, the cooperation between the West Java Provincial Government and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia is planned to be followed up immediately. A number of activities also have the potential to be relocated to the Kertajati area to increase activity and utilization of the airport zone.
"Alhamdulillah, the meeting was related to the future plan for BIJB Kertajati. The Governor agreed that the BIJB Kertajati area in Majalengka Regency will be collaborated with the Ministry of Defense. There are several activities that will be moved here as soon as possible after the cooperation is carried out," said Eman, Friday (2/10/2026).
In addition to the defense industry development, the arrival of PT Dirgantara Indonesia along with its derivative business ecosystem is one of the plans expected to drive economic activity in Kertajati.
Eman mentioned that the plan has the potential to create jobs for around three thousand people. The presence of the aerospace industry is also expected to encourage the growth of supporting businesses and create economic multiplier effects for communities around the area.
"PT DI will also be brought here, along with its derivative businesses. Approximately 3,000 people will work," said Regent Eman Suherman.
For the Majalengka Regency Government, the development of BIJB Kertajati is not enough to be oriented merely towards airport functions. The area is expected to grow into a hub of industrial and economic activity that provides direct benefits to the public.
Eman considers that the span of about 10 years since the development of BIJB serves as an evaluation momentum to see the growth direction of the area. Therefore, he positively welcomes the development ideas presented by the Governor of West Java.
"The important thing is that this area becomes busy and develops. I appreciate the Governor's idea. Our hope is that Majalengka advances further and grows, so it can leverage the people's economy, increase the economic growth rate, and realize Majalengka Langkung SAE," he asserted.
If the cooperation and industrial development plans are realized, BIJB Kertajati stands a chance to play a broader economic role, ranging from defense and aerospace industry activities to job creation and the growth of local community businesses.
