PERHUMAS BPC Bandung Attends KHI 2026 in Surakarta, Strengthens Collaboration and Public Trust
JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian Public Relations Association (PERHUMAS) Bandung Branch Management Board (BPC) participated in the 2026 Indonesian Public Relations Convention (KHI) held on October 17–18, 2026, in Surakarta, Central Java. The presence of PERHUMAS BPC Bandung is a manifestation of its commitment to strengthening professionalism, inter-regional collaboration, and the strategic contribution of the public relations profession in building public trust and Indonesia's reputation.
Carrying the theme "Public Relations as the Nation's Power: Weaving Trust, Mobilizing Indonesia," KHI 2026 serves as a national forum that brings together communication practitioners, academics, corporate leaders, government officials, professional organizations, media, and the younger generation. This activity, organized by PERHUMAS together with Katadata, positions trust as an essential foundation for strengthening the relationship between institutions and society.
The Chairperson of PERHUMAS BPC Bandung, Dr. Indra Ardiyanto, M.I.Kom., stated that the organization of KHI 2026 serves as a strategic momentum to strengthen the transformation of the role of public relations amidst the development of digital technology, artificial intelligence, the dynamics of public communication, and increasing demands for organizational transparency and accountability.
One of the focuses in KHI 2026 was the discussion on "Sustainability as the Foundation of Trust," which emphasized the importance of integrating actions, data, narratives, and impacts in building an organization's reputation.
For PERHUMAS BPC Bandung, the issue of sustainability has important relevance to the development of corporate communication practices, especially when organizations face demands to demonstrate commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.
Indra emphasized that sustainability communication must move beyond the storytelling approach toward communication based on evidence, transparency, and accountability.
"Sustainability communication must not stop at delivering positive stories about the organization. Communication must be able to show performance evidence, openness to challenges, and real impacts for society and the environment. In this context, the public relations profession has the responsibility to ensure that reputation is built through demonstrable actions, not merely narratives," he added.
PERHUMAS BPC Bandung Encourages Collaboration and Competency Strengthening
The presence of PERHUMAS BPC Bandung in KHI 2026 was also part of an effort to expand professional networks and strengthen collaboration with various PERHUMAS Branch Management Boards across Indonesia.
Previously, PERHUMAS BPC Bandung had organized a series of Road to KHI 2026 discussions with the grand theme “Building Trust, Shaping Influence: The Future of Public Relations.” This series of activities discussed four important dimensions in building trust, namely Trust in Crisis, Trust in Technology, Trust in Power, and Trust in Culture & Sustainability.
This series of discussions represents PERHUMAS BPC Bandung's contribution in promoting knowledge exchange, competency strengthening, and increasing awareness regarding the strategic role of communication in facing organizational and societal challenges.
Through its participation in KHI 2026, PERHUMAS BPC Bandung is committed to continuing the development of educational activities, professional discussions, academic collaboration, and capacity building for communication practitioners in Bandung and West Java.
It is worth noting that the selection of Surakarta as the location for KHI 2026 also holds its own significance because its cultural wealth and local wisdom values serve as inspiration in building trust. Through the concept of the Six Knots of Trust, KHI 2026 elevates the values of nobility, leadership, consistency, meaning, harmony, and sustainability as a foundation to strengthen the contribution of the public relations profession to national development.
KHI 2026 is also coupled with the Young Public Relations Meeting (PEMUDA) 2026, which serves as a space for capacity building, learning, and regeneration for Indonesia's future communication leaders.
Closing his statement, Indra Ardiyanto emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in building a professional, inclusive, and sustainable communication ecosystem. "Trust is a very important social capital for the nation's future. Through KHI 2026, we hope that the public relations profession will be increasingly able to take on the role of a bridge of interests, a collaboration driver, and a guardian of Indonesia's reputation. PERHUMAS BPC Bandung is ready to be part of the joint movement to build communication that has integrity, is ethical, and provides a positive impact on society," he stated.
