Komisi V DPR Pushes for PTDI-STTD to Become National Center of Excellence for Land Transportation Human Resources

Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Syaiful Huda, believes that strengthening human resources (HR) is key to improving the quality of public transportation services, particularly land transportation. For this reason, he is pushing for the Indonesian Polytechnic of Land Transportation-College of Land Transportation (PTDI-STTD) to be continuously strengthened until it becomes a center of excellence for land transportation human resources.

This was stated by Syaiful Huda while leading a Specific Working Visit by Commission V of the DPR RI to PTDI-STTD, Bekasi, on Friday (2/10/2026). According to him, PTDI-STTD holds a strategic position in preparing human resources capable of addressing the challenges and developments in the public transportation sector.

"Our public transportation services must continue to improve year after year, and the key to that is human resources. Today, we are at the very place where the future transformation of our public transportation is being shaped and taught, at this polytechnic," said Syaiful.

The politician from the PKB Faction said the visit is part of Commission V DPR RI's oversight function, as well as an effort to gather input on the state of education and conditions at PTDI-STTD. One issue of concern is the campus's budgetary needs, including the budget backlog that the institution is still facing.

According to him, these various issues need to be conveyed openly so that they can become material for discussion in Commission V DPR RI's upcoming meetings. He hopes that, going forward, PTDI-STTD will be able to develop into a center of excellence for producing human resources in land public transportation management.

Syaiful also emphasized the importance of adjusting the curriculum and learning models to keep pace with developments in information technology within the transportation sector. According to him, technological change requires transportation educational institutions to continuously adapt, so that graduates meet the needs of current and future transportation services.

"I would ask the Head of BPSDM to please present things as they are, so that this can truly become a record for us, especially for Commission V," he said.

In addition to strengthening education, Syaiful touched on discussions regarding the revision of the Law on Traffic and Road Transportation (LLAJ), which falls under Commission V DPR RI's right of legislative initiative. He opened the door for PTDI-STTD to provide input regarding the substance of education and the development of public transportation human resources as part of that revision process.

"This is important for the future, so that these various efforts have a legal basis through the revision of the LLAJ Law," he concluded.
