PTDI Plans to Build Ambulance and Firefighting Aircraft

BANDUNG, WWW.PASJABAR.COM – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is ready to develop an ambulance aircraft and a firefighting aircraft to meet Indonesia's needs.

PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan said the company is ready to develop an ambulance aircraft in response to the needs of Indonesia's Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). PTDI is also preparing the development of a firefighting aircraft to help address forest fires. "An amphibious version could be developed from PTDI's NC212 aircraft. However, we are still awaiting direction from the Minister of Health," said Gita.

In addition to the ambulance aircraft, PTDI is also preparing to develop the N219 for forest firefighting needs.

Gita explained that PTDI can develop the N219 into a firefighting aircraft. The aircraft would later be able to carry the equipment needed to support aerial firefighting operations.

"The N219 can be designed as a firefighting aircraft," Gita affirmed.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus confirmed the Ministry of Health's plan to purchase ambulance aircraft from PTDI. Benjamin said Indonesia needs air-based health services given its vast archipelagic territory.

According to him, a number of regions such as the Riau Islands, Papua, Maluku, North Maluku, and East Nusa Tenggara require air transportation support to improve health services.

"That is why the Ministry of Health welcomes PTDI, which is ready to build an amphibious ambulance and an ambulance aircraft," Benjamin explained.

Even so, Benjamin said the Ministry of Health still needs to coordinate with other parties, including the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas. He also could not yet confirm how many ambulance aircraft the Ministry of Health would require.

The National Symposium marking PTDI's 50th anniversary featured Deputy Minister of PPN/Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard as keynote speaker.

At the event, PTDI also signed a number of memorandums of understanding with various parties. In addition, PTDI inaugurated the Final Assembly Line (FAL) Hangar for the N219 aircraft. (Jbe)
