Two Aviation Giants Join Forces: PTDI and PT ANI Take a Bold Step in the World of MRO
ABNnews – Two giants of the country's aviation industry, Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) or (PTDI) and PT Aero Nusantara Indonesia (PT ANI), have officially taken a bold step in the world of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO).
Both companies have agreed to join forces to strengthen the capabilities and capacity of the aircraft maintenance ecosystem at both the national and regional levels.
This strategic partnership was sealed through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on the second day of the IISAR 2026 aerospace exhibition, Friday (7/10/2026).
The signing ceremony was carried out directly by PTDI's Director of Commerce and Development, Moh. Arif Faisal, together with PT ANI's President Director, Otto Sigit Budianto.
Through this bold collaboration, the aerospace state-owned enterprise and its private industry partner are fully committed to boosting the competitiveness of the domestic aircraft maintenance service industry in support of national aviation independence.
This agreement serves as a launching pad for PTDI and PT ANI to share technical capabilities in pursuit of an increasingly competitive and sustainable MRO market.
Several supporting facility points that will be jointly optimized include:
- Hangar Facilities: Use of hangars legally owned or controlled by either party according to operational needs.
- Human Resources: Collaboration between internationally certified mechanics and expert technicians.
- Work Equipment: Shared use of work equipment, tools, and hangar equipment.
- Logistics: Integration of logistics facilities supporting aircraft components.
"The partnership with PT Aero Nusantara Indonesia serves as a foundation to optimize the use of facilities, human resource competencies, and the technical capabilities of both companies. We hope this synergy will open up greater opportunities to compete in the regional market," said Moh. Arif Faisal.
To date, PTDI, through its Aircraft Services (ACS) unit, has held a crucial role in providing MRO services. Supported by internationally standardized facilities, ACS's capabilities cover maintenance, modification, and capability upgrades for aircraft and helicopters, for both military and civilian needs.
PT ANI's entry into this ecosystem is expected to multiply the cost efficiency and service capacity that has so far been managed by PTDI.
The strengthening of the domestic aviation ecosystem is considered highly dependent on collaboration among national industry players so that it does not fall behind in competing with foreign aircraft maintenance shops.
PT ANI's President Director, Otto Sigit Budianto, welcomed this bold step positively. According to him, this collaboration marks an important momentum to prove the quality of the airworthiness certifications held by his corporation.
"Through this partnership, PT ANI supports the strengthening of the capacity and competitiveness of Indonesia's MRO services in accordance with the capabilities, certifications, and approvals we hold, while always prioritizing safety, quality, and compliance," Otto affirmed.
Going forward, both aviation companies will immediately follow up on this formal agreement into more specific cooperation initiative programs to create an increasingly integrated MRO ecosystem.
